A very warm welcome to the website during this holiday season. We hope you've had a fruitful year and that you will be able to share some special time with friends and family. For those of you who are returning to the website we'd like to welcome you back! We hope you've found it informative and useful over the past year. Your interest in the negotiations is very important, and the input we've received from many of you is really appreciated.
For us, 2008 has quickly come and gone, and as we approach the holiday season we'd like to take the time to highlight some of the progress made in the negotiations toward a Nunavik Regional Government. It's been a very positive year and we are proud of the progress made by all concerned.
To begin, the Nunavik organisations, (KRG, KSB and NRBHSS) are increasingly engaged in the work of preparing the implementation plan. Both the federal and provincial governments are very supportive and are also very engaged. The Naskapi have agreed to a working process and we are upigusuttuq-marialuk (very proud) of our fruitful discussions that lead to this understanding.
The fall workshop with the Nunavik organisations has put everyone on the same page and created an atmosphere of teamwork. Teamwork, with the active support and involvement of the organisations, will be very important as we move on toward a Final Agreement and the development of the implementation plan in 2009. As you know, the Final Agreement will need to be approved by Nunavimmiut in a referendum and we are looking forward to sharing and exchanging with you as we consult with the Nunavik population in preparation for this very important event.
We hope and we are confident that a similar spirit of sharing will be present during your holiday season, and we want to wish each and every one of you a safe and blessed Christmas.
