Quebec, Ottawa sign deal with Quebec Inuit

QUEBEC - Quebec and Ottawa inked a self-government deal with the Inuit of Quebec Wednesday that is being lauded as a giant step toward improving their standard of living.

It is only an agreement-in-principle to create a form of self-government on their territory, including everything in the province north of the 55th parallel.

But when it is fully implemented it will give them the right to govern themselves under a new regional government of Nunavik.
