Cree Nation Rights and Interests in Nunavik

We recently met with some representatives of the Cree Nation regarding our project, Nunavik Government. We wanted to get their views, comments and opinion on the text of the Agreement-in-Principle.

It was an excellent meeting. The Cree Nation took the opportunity of our meeting to congratulate the Inuit for their hard work and for the success to come in this adventure. They mentioned that they have been following our project for many months and that it is seen as one of the models for their own governance.

Overall, they agree with the AIP and acknowledge our intention to protect their rights on our territory. We are now in a drafting process aiming at clarifying this intention and reassuring all the parties with regard to their rights and interests in Nunavik. We should soon be able to come up with a final text.
